Hello. Has anyone experienced or know of an issue with the vinyl edition of the new lp? I'm now on my second copy and will have to return it again (to Amazon, not pinkflag). Both copies have identical problems - noise, distortion, surface noise. the second side is unlistenable and the centre hole isn't even centred properly. Does anyone have a good copy? Seems a shame cos i have the download and it's a fucking great album!
yeah, they were. it was near the top of their vinyl charts for a good couple weeks, possibly because of this. i was trying not to get carried away with any conspiracy theory of them selling bad copies cheaply. (though it did occur to me!)

YEAH. I HAVE EXACTLY THE SAME PROBLEMS WITH MY VINYL ISSUE FROM AMAZON. NO WONDER IT WAS SO CHEAP! SOUNDS LIKE THE BEST OPTION IS TO GET A REFUND FROM AMAZON AND PURCHASE A COPY THROUGH GREEDBAG INSTEAD
interesting. surely we can't be saying amazon have got bad copies and are deliberately selling them cheaply? there must have been some sort of pressing issue with it?
What makes me a bit suspicious is that Amazon were selling the vinyl version cheaper than the cd, which is pretty much unheard of in this day and age. Whatever, it's a right pain in the arse having to send vinyl back. I'll think twice about ordering through Amazon again
Same here. i bought mine from rough trade though. I'm on my second copy too which has a particularly knackered side 2. i thought it was a bit odd that it was cheaper than the cd!
Bought mine from Greedbag , when it arrived had a deep mark on the "clay" track.
Emailed Greedbag , which to their credit , they replied almost immediatly to my suggestion of not wasting either of our money in returning it and neither of us having to pay for the return of a faulty product , and ,on my sugestion, to send only the vinyl replacement without the main outer sleeve.
All seemed fine until it arrived and I was disapointed to find it scuffed to buggery , I've not pushed it any futher with Greedbag , as it "looks" as it it will play fine , albeit with noise (unlike the first copy that would have skipped and jumped)
Im p-off that who ever sent the replacement couldn't be arsed to check the replacement.
Des - is this a known problem then? I've given up on amazon and have my money back but obviously i still want a copy. Happy to order through greedbag but the thought of having to return another faulty copy is tiresome to say the least. I don't know much about record production - was there a pressing issue? is there another print run coming? is it better to wait?
I'm glad this problem has been raised, i pre-ordered from Pinkflag and my first copy had identical problems as pza. Side 2 was particularly bad, it looked like a car had gone over it! Just got my second copy a guess what, it's exactly the same. I emailed greedbag yesterday asking for a refund so i can order a copy from somewhere else but it seems as if nearly all of them a re faulty.
At the third time of asking i've finally got hold of a copy of RBT on vinyl that I can actually listen too without thinking It's been produced by Bruce Gilbert during his In Esse period. Thanks to HMV in Jersey for supplying it at the reasonable cost of £8.99.
I ordered from pinkflag/greedbag and I don't seem to have the problem some of you are describing - my copy sounds great. My copy of Read & Burn 03 looks a bit strange (it's got a cracked pattern in between the run-out grooves), but I think they were pressed at a different place?
Yeeeeah! Finally received my vinyl copy yesterday from Conspiracy 51. Haven't heard it yet but I will this weekend. It's looks in great condition too! I was especially worried after reading some of the comments about Side 2. Must have had a bad batch or something. I'll report back on the sound quality!
I am in the USA, ordered Red Barked Tree from Pinkflag/Greedbag, after waiting for a while for it to show up (ordered Jan 24) it arrived yesterday. Initially I was quite pleased until I got to the second side which is affected by the pressing problem described here - it's unlistenable (too bad, I enjoyed side 1). In the interim the record has shown up at my local record shop - it might be better to stick with local merchants when possible. (Not faulting anyone for the long delivery time or the pressing problem, but it would be easier to deal with return/replacement at the shop up the street).
Red Barked Tree has to be one of the best records of the year! But I can tell you, unfortunately, that pretty much every copy on vinyl is badly defective. I have tried 6 copies already (returning to the local very patient store) and have now looked at over 30 copies in local record stores - all have varying degrees of defect, ranging from dimples in the vinyl (every copy) to worse (some side 2's look like a truck passed over them, repeatedly). I can only conclude that the entire pressing run is defective. It's a real shame, but what happened here is some rocket scientist went real ultra cheap and used the lowest end eastern bloc pressing plant they could find. The cover printing is fabulous. Buy the CD.
Apologies to everyone who has received a faulty copy of RBT from Greedbag on vinyl. It is a known problem.
I'm not sure how many are affected. We, like Amazon and everyone else, receive our copies from the distributors who in turn receive theirs from the manufacturers. It appears that some of the first pressing are damaged. How many, I cannot say, but I've had to deal with about 25 seperate queries so far.
Due to unforeseen circumstances we have also experienced a delay in receiving our allocation of replacement stock from the distributor. I'm awaiting confirmation on when we will receive them. Hopefully I'll find out tomorrow. As soon as we receive them we will be sending them out straight away.
Thanks for everyones patience on this. Apologies once again. Its been an annoying blip on what has been a very successful release and thanks again to everyone who purchased a copy via the store. You've kept me and Matt very busy!
All the best

Ps: US customers: It appears that recent changes at US customs have really slowed the delivery of items getting to US destinations. Possibly up to a month it seems.
Pps: We still have copies of Strays left for anyone ordering either the album or the latest t-shirt.
Yep, definitely a "bad" pressing issue here. Both sides look great on my copy but there is heavy surface noise on side 2. It prevails throughout the whole side even though it sounds a little quieter when the music starts. Usually these things are caught when the buyer listens to the test pressings. I've pressed vinyl before and would suggest a different record plant for the next pressing.
