We've probably been over this before (my memory is appalling) but there's a smattering of Colin discographies out there that list Body Glue as a Colin Newman release. It's even listed as such on Amazon, although it looks like it could be our old friend C Newman.

    Either that or something else

    Certainly not our Mr Newman

No...but was wondering if our Mr Newman might wish to contact Amazon to ask them to stop stocking it as a Colin Newman release. I wonder if C Newman cops for many sales on the back of these mis-listings

even the italian wikipedia entry lists Body Glue in Colin's discography:
    http://it.wikipedia.org/wiki/Colin_Newman

Body Glue is by Chris Newman and Helmut Zerlett. The former is an english artist/painter/musician living in Germany since decades, and the latter is a german musician who leads the band of a popular german tv show (the Harald Schmidt Show).
Strange enough the Body Glue album is not listed in the official internet page of Chris Newman, but it is correctly listed in his discography in Discogs. Btw, this is also the same Chris Newman as in the LP "C. Newman & Janet Smith".
I've seen Body Glue several times in german shops many years ago and i've even listened to most of it. Actually from what i remember the music was not bad at all and i would have not been too surprised if somebody had told me it was Colin's music from the 80's (it also had a certain Desmond Simmons touch), but the voice was terrible. Would have certainly been better with Colin's voice :)

I bought the C. Newman & Janet Smith album from Virgin Megastore in Birmingham in 1986, in the days before the Internet, thinking I'd stumbled on a rare Colin album. It didn't take long to realise I'd been duped after the first few tracks on the vinyl record. I didn't take it back however and still have it, filed in amongst my other Colin Newman vinyl albums for some reason. It has a certain charm, particularly the cover of the Beach Boys California Girls and the track Wanker Prize always amused me. I've not thought about this album for many years but think I'll dig it out again on the strength of this post. Pretty sure Colin has a brother called Chris Newman who contributed to the A list. Are they one and the same C Newmans I wonder?

Is that the 'Dinosaur Tracks...' LP?

Got that too. Some good stuff on there.

"My wife is French <she's French, she's French>"

"This morning, on the news, they didn't even mention the house in Shropshire".

"Mushrooms on toast, is the most I can boast"

and "I had to hunt to find her c...."

Yes that's the one Baetzea. With a photograph of a baby in a swimming pool on the front, released on the German Review label from 1985 according to the sleeve notes.
