While recently browsing in Vinyl Exchange (big second hand music shop in Manchester similar to Music and Video exchange in London) I noticed that A Bell is A Cup, Ideal Copy and IBTABA had been priced up to £15 which is a heck of a lot for a second hand CD these days. A quick look on Amazon and there are no 'new' stock copies on sale and second hand copies are at least £20. Vinyl copies I suspect will go for way more than that. A quick search of Ebay for ABIAC turns up a Vinyl copy for £17 (with a sleeve cut) but no CDs.
Does this mean that the Mute stocks of the physical discs have now pretty much gone? Were the remaining stocks all lost in the Sony/PIAS warehouse fire perhaps? I guess various record stores around the world will have stock but nevertheless this suggests maybe after the Document & Eyewitness thing the Wire Mk2 stuff will be ripe for a nice reissue programme.
I agree with you. Looking at mute.com, the only physical products available are CDs of "The Ideal Copy", "The Drill", and "The A List". Would love it if there's more where "Coatings" came from. Most of the alternate takes from this period did however come out as b-sides, but I'd like to hear if there are any "Behind The Curtain" type demo recordings for these albums.

I can assure you that during research for Coatings we found no other 'outakes' or lost tracks. All alternate mixes have either appeared as b-sides or on Coatings. No demos were made of anything they did for Mute.
I too would like to see a Mute era reissue proramme with bonus tracks etc included.
I just received this email from EIL. They're a pretty good company that specialise in hard to find stuff, tho' they can be a tad on the expensive side!
