Spent the early morning listening to Indian's exceptionally uncompromising From All Purity. There's probably something wrong with me, but I rather enjoyed it.
Sparks - 'A Woofer in Tweeter's Clothing' and 'Balls'
Re-connecting with Bob Marley's Island albums. Like finding a familiar face in a crowd.
Catch a Fire, both original mix and the Blackwell mix still sound incredible . I can only imagine what it could have sounded like in 1972 (I was only 13 and a T.Rex fan, I still am!) to a white rock audience. An older friend once said to me that he always thought reggae was inside-out music because the beat wasn't four on the floor but on the off beat. What he makes of African music god knows.
By end of the weekend had made it Exodus - a classic!
    Rediscovering Stereolab. Love those harmonies.
    Kaya to Confrontation played again.
Have not played these since I bought the remasters in 2001 so it was a great suprise to reconnect with them.

I love dipping into my collection this way and almost hearing afresh something I knew but had forgotten the subtelties of.
British Sea Power - Machineries Of Joy & From The Sea To The Land Beyond (Soundtrack)
Lee Perry 'Apeology' brilliant 2CD of classic 3 albums: Super Ape (JA mix), Roast Fish Collie Weed and Cornbread and Return of the Super Ape
The Flaming Lips - Embryonic (courtesy of my son):-)
Kate Tempest - BBC6 Session (courtesy of smiler40 at Dime) :-)
    The The's Soul Mining reissues
A whole bunch of Scientist dub albums
Just watched and listened to excellent Jon Hassell session on KCRW from Tuesday
Such a rainy Saturday! Only one thing for it. All the furniture pushed to one side in the main hall of Eden Mansions and dancing round to Mustspha Tettey Addy's classic Master Drummer from Ghana album.
    Rain rain go away....
And it now has. We've been bouncing around to The Best of Studio One, Full Up: More Hits from Studio One, Downbeat The Ruler: Killer Instrumentals from Studio One...
    Time for a sit down
I've had the rare opportunity to pop a couple of records on and read so this afternoon's playlists has been Crackdown, Microphonies (both Cabaret Voltaire), Meteorites (Echo & the Bunnymen) and LA Spark by Wrangler.
Continuing the Studio One theme with a whole bunch of the Soul Jazz label compilations.
The Studio One theme continues with The Heptones albums
Lee 'Scratch' Perry time at Eden Manors. The butlers favourite '14 Dub Blackboard Jungle" is pounding out while the Cooks favourite Super Ape will be played later. The chamber maid is still pondering...
