Tramway 10 years on today... hard to believe. A very memorable night (including Liars and Pansonic) and an incendiary set at the height of the Send era that yielded The Scottish Play DVD (praise be to Tom Gidley and his crew for being on hand!).

This was Bruce's last UK gig with Wire. Though it was a huge shock when he left, reading the recent biography of the band, it's a wonder he stayed that long. In fact it's a wonder the band survived to that point and managed to regroup and refresh their outlook and approaches after his departure, with some new blood in the ranks.

A testament to their resilience and dogged persistence to hang on to that thing they call Wire, whatever it may be, and make it function. Plenty of life in the old dog yet, as they approach their 40th anniversary in a few years..

I remember seeing John Peel walking down Sauchiehall Street earlier that day, with a bag of freshly purchased LPs. "Ah, there's Peelie" I thought, "I'll see him later I guess". But he left early, so I didn't. Then he left for good, later that year...

Above is a photo I took between soundcheck and interviews in Tramway's Hidden Gardens. The live shots can be seen here:
I wanted to directly embed the photo I mentioned but I don't seem to be able to do it the way I used to with Photobucket.. bollox !
10 years already since those three Scottish dates culminating with the Glasgow Tramway performance?! Jeez! Aren't we all getting old! Who'd have thought Wire would still be going at full throttle - despite losing one engine. I was in the front row for the Edinburgh and Glasgow gigs (I can just make myself out on the Scottish Play DVD). Two great nights...never to be forgotten
Finally managed to embed the photo !
